"I know my community as a place of cultural abundance and saw, in this magazine, an opportunity to show you Yuendumu and what us Warlpiri people are truly like."  Samara Fernandez

130 + pages of Warlpiri voices, images, stories, art and fashion all bound together in an extraordinary publication, lead by Warlpiri editor, Samara Fernandez.

This publication is a collaborative project between NORTH and the community of Yuendumu and Nyrippi.

Storytelling is a powerful tool for young people to share their culture. It’s a platform for people to talk about what is important to them and have agency over the way their stories are shared with the world.

Place

NORTH acknowledges that the art, landscapes and people featured throughout this magazine are of the Warlpiri people. We recognise that the traditional owners of the communities in which we directly collaborated with, Yuendumu and Nyirripi, belong to the Warlpiri and Anmatyerr people. We pay our respects to their elders, past, present, future and emerging. We thank the Warlpiri and Anmatyerr people for welcoming us into their special spaces, and for giving us their time. It was a great privilege.
